FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 5, 2011
First Night Tri-Cities is pleased to announce that the Gothard Sisters will return to the First Night Tri-Cities lineup for the 2012 event on December 31, 2011 for the fifth-straight year.
The trio of sisters are returning to the event after a generous sponsor, who has chosen to remain anonymous, offered to pay for the girls entire performance fee and cover travel costs.
The girls will perform two shows in the Columbia Basin College Gymnasium with headliner Vocal Trash and other talent selections.
"First Night is pleased to have the Gothard Sisters return once again," said Parker Hodge, Director of Entertainment & Production. "Greta, Willow and Solana have grown up with our event over the last few years and make a positive impression our community. The crowds at their show continue to get larger each year and we always receive positive comments from those who have seen the show."
Performing at the event for the fifth time makes the group one of the longest-running talent choices, behind master hypnotist Jerry Harris, who will perform for the eighth time on New Year's Eve. "The Gothard Sisters consider the annual New Year's Eve trip to the Tri-Cities a tradition and the First Night staff is their second family," Hodge said.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE GOTHARD SISTERS:
Greta (age 24), Willow (22) and Solana (16) have been playing violin and dancing since a very young age, and they grew up performing on stages in the Pacific Northwest. They started out with rigorous classical violin training and competetive Irish Dance, leading them to leadership positions in the local Youth Symphonies and bringing them to the Irish Dancing World Championships (held overseas in the UK) to compete in the solo championships for three years in a row. The three sisters have also developed their talents on various other instruments including guitar, bodhran and voice in the pursuit of creating a fuller, more compelling show. Their love for music, dance and storytelling is their inspiration for performing and recording.
The Gothard Sisters have recorded six CDs, beginning with their Christmas release in 2006 ("And to All a Good Night,") and progressing to their most recent Celtic album, which is slated for release in early Autumn, 2011.
These days the girls can be seen making their way across the country visiting fairs and festivals to share their love of music and dancing with the people that they meet.
